Dr. Donovan
For Dr. Donovan, dentistry is more than a profession—it’s a place where science, artistry, teamwork, and human connection all come together. While he genuinely loves the hands-on work of diagnosing, restoring, and improving smiles, he’ll tell you that the very best part of his job is the people he gets to work with every day. Surrounded by a team that is talented, compassionate, and genuinely fun, he feels grateful to come into a practice where collaboration thrives and patients feel the positive energy from the moment they walk in.
Interestingly, Dr. Donovan didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a dentist. Instead, he approached his college years with curiosity, taking courses that challenged him or simply sparked interest. It wasn’t until after graduation that dentistry came into focus. By chance—and maybe fate—he realized that his academic choices had already checked off nearly all the prerequisites for dental school. A job as an orthodontic assistant and lab technician gave him direct insight into patient care, and the ability to make a meaningful difference ignited something in him. During that time, he also discovered his fascination with dental materials and techniques, becoming what he jokingly calls a “giant dental nerd.” The field’s combination of precision, problem-solving, creativity, and lifelong learning made it the perfect fit.
Dr. Donovan attended the University of New England’s College of Dental Medicine, where he spent his clinical years caring for the people of Maine at the Oral Health Center. Since earning his degree, he has embraced a broad scope of dentistry—from root canals and restorative treatments to esthetic cases—always striving to expand his skillset and provide the highest standard of care.
A proud child of Chinese immigrants, Dr. Donovan is deeply appreciative of the sacrifices his parents made to provide him and his sister with greater opportunities. Today, his father enjoys retired life playing golf daily, while his mother tends lovingly to her garden on the East Coast. Dr. Donovan now lives in Washington with his wife, whom he adores, and their enthusiastic, slightly food-obsessed orange cat.
Outside the office, Dr. Donovan is always on the move—literally. He loves sports of all kinds and takes every chance he can to explore Washington’s beautiful trails and landscapes. He’s also on a self-proclaimed mission to “eat his way across the state,” always searching for the next great restaurant and eager for recommendations from patients. One of the most formative experiences of his life came after completing his bachelor’s degree, when Dr. Donovan spent six months backpacking through 11 countries across Southeast Asia. During his travels, he had an unexpected conversation that first sparked the idea of pursuing dentistry—a moment that ultimately shaped his entire career path.
Whether caring for patients, mastering new techniques, or discovering the next great meal, Dr. Donovan approaches life with curiosity, gratitude, and a genuine desire to help others smile with confidence.
