Tooth Extractions Federal Way
When Your Smile Needs Saving
Dr. Navi and Dr. Donovan are emergency dentists who care about patients’ smiles. This means that, at Precision Dental Care, every effort is made to restore, rebuild, and save teeth, no matter how damaged or decayed they might be. With that said, there are some cases when restorative dentistry treatment doesn’t work. If that’s the case for you, then there is only one way to prevent further harm: tooth extraction. By removing one or more teeth, we can save your smile so that it remains healthier with each passing year. Reasons Why Tooth Extractions Are Necessary
In order to determine if a tooth needs to be removed, our dental team will need to complete a thorough exam. Should you exhibit any of the following, you’ll likely be recommended for tooth removal:
- Severe dental decay is threatening the rest of your smile
- Facial trauma has damaged one or more teeth so badly that they cannot be saved
- Your little one’s primary tooth will not fall out on its own and needs help to create space for the permanent one
- Your teeth are at a high risk of decay and need to be removed for proper prosthetic placement
- You have advanced gum recession caused by periodontitis and are noticing that your teeth are becoming loose
The Process of Removing a Tooth
There are two types of extractions: simple and surgical. The first is used when the tooth in question has broken through the gumline, allowing us to grip it, rock it loose, and remove it from the socket. The second is ideal when the tooth is trapped underneath. If that’s the case, then we will need to make a small incision in your gums first. Then, we can remove the tooth section by section. In both cases, the first step is the same: numbing your mouth thoroughly to ensure you don’t feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
